Spent the last few days repairing the wiring harness. This involved removing the old tape, cleaning and inspecting all the wires. Replacing the wires where necessary (the insulation on a lot of the wires in the engine bay had become brittle and crack so needed to be changed). New terminals were then crimped and soldered on before harness was tapped up again.

I also took the opportunity to do a few modifications. I’ve added wires in so I can have an electric cooling fan, electric fuel pump and adjusted the tacho wiring to work with a RVC tacho.

Boot and transmission tunnel harness are complete but as the car was disassembled I couldn’t fit main harness to confirm all wires are in correct place before taping it up.

Clamped and screwed the rear part of the shell together and started to join them back together where it cut in half to be able to remove it from the rotten chassis.

The last few days have been spent disassembling the front chassis sub frame and cutting out a couple of rusty and damaged sections. Replacement sections were then tacked into place before sub frame was removed and they were fully welded. Once the sub frame was refitted a bracket for the heater fan was made a tacked into place. This will be fully welded once I’m certain it’s in the correct place. Still need to sort steering column and until body and bonnet is fitted I won’t be sure that nothing hits.

Exhaust installation completed after mounts were bolted to car and 8mm stainless rod has been bent  and welded to system for the mounting brackets. Once Fibre glass body is fitted to car i just need to finalise the tail pipe position.
