The rear bumpers on the 1500 are held in place by metal tabs that are fiber glassed in place to the inside of the bumpers. Due to the rust over the years only one of these was still present and in place on bumpers. Made 4 new ones out of stainless steel and they are now ready to resin in place when I get a chance.

I was struggling repairing all the cracks in the car roof as the fibre glass was that thin it was causing it to flex with the smallest amount of pressure applied which made sanding the roof almost impossible. Took the radicle solution of stripping the car down and filliping it upside down to put a couple of layers of GRP on the inside of the roof. Hopefully my father will return tomorrow to give me a hand to flip it back over and refit front end and bonnet.

When you open the drivers door it hits the car body and its not open very wide.  Getting into a Marcos is difficult enough without not being able to open the door properly. Made the decision to sand the body to give it more space so door can be opened wider. Now just need to build up the door to fix the panel gap. Once that is done I think I will have just about  finished adjust doors a boot lids so they fit nicely.

With most of the cracks now fixed I’ve been working on other parts. Below are photo’s of before and after of the lock fit in the door. Use of filler has drastically improved the fit.

Today was more about improving panel fit than fixing cracks in the gel coat. Resin in several layers of fibre glass tissue to improve the fit. Tomorrow once its set I’ll be able to sand it down.
