Web site is online and approximately 50% of the original blog has been restored. Hopefully in the next few evenings the rest of my original website archive will be moved over to this new site (need to manually copy and paste each original entry).
Even with the time spent on the website I’m still making progress with the new chassis.

A set of moulds arrived today (made from Styrofoam) which means I could start make the parts for my new sills This was achieved by gluing together 2 pieces of 3mm plywood together over a mould using a vacuum press. Best new tool I’ve purchased for a while and I’m really impressed with the results.

Well today I bought  a 1966 Marcos GT. I’ve been on the look out for a wooden chassis project car for a number of years and when one came available it was too good an opportunity to miss. Due to other commitments e.g. renovating/extending my home its going to be quite some time before I’ll have a chance to start working on it. So for now its going to be stored in the shed at the bottom of my garden and be left along till I have time to work on it.

Had a great weekend at Bradford-On-Avon for Jem’s 80th Birthday. I personally enjoyed the day at the Haynes test track as it was the first time I’ve been able to really push the car to it’s limits and eventually I discovered them by crashing the car into a barrier/tyre wall. The damage could have been far worse as the only major area hurt was to one of the bumpers and the bonnet mounting brackets being bent slightly. With the bonnet bracket bent the front wheel was rubbing the wheel arch and the bonnet would not close meaning it would be impossible to drive the car. With the help of a few other owners I was able to remove the bonnet and straighten the bonnet brackets. With-in 45 minutes this was completed and the bonnet was back on enable me to drive back to the Hotel in Bradford-On-Avon.
Since returning home the bonnet has been removed again and the brackets have been straightened further so the bonnet now sits correctly. The damage front bumpers has also been removed and most of the damage has been polished out of the paint work. This can be seen in the 2 photo’s below. Since taking the photos’s I have no started touch up the major chips so hopefully after several applications of paint the chips will be filled and the paint work can be flattened back down so the chips will no longer be visible.
As for the bumper it is really beyond repairing (It could be done but its not worth the time and effort) so I’ve ordered a new one from Marcos Heritage Spares.

The new electric fuel pump finally arrived yesterday so I was able to fit it to the car. I also have the car booked in for another rolling road session for tomorrow morning before I head off Bradford on Avon for the Marcos weekend. Hopefully the rolling road session will fix the weak fuel mixture above 4000rpm.
Only other thing that I’ve just discovered is my front left hand sock absorbers is in the process of failing. Looks like the seals have failed and it is in the process of loosing all it’s oil. I’m sure by the time I’ve reached the Haynes test track there will be no oil left so its obviously going to upset the handling of the car but there is nothing I can do about it as there is a 3 week lead time in getting a replacement. I’ll just have to make do till a replacement arrives.
